·       DRSABCD approach to patient management

·       Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation

·       Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

·       Recovery position

·       Management of choking

·       Management of Anaphylaxis

This course is intended as a 4 hour refresher covering the basics of Advanced Cardiac Life Support. The course curriculum assumes that you know and understand Basic Life Support and that you have professional training in a health care related profession such as medicine or nursing. It is specifically tailored to meet the needs of both community-based and hospital-based health professionals.

This IV course will outline the procedure for inserting peripheral intravenous cannula (PIVC) and consider the various issues that are associated with it. The material presented on PIVC is focused on the adult population and phlebotomy will not be taught on this course. Total time investment for this course is 7 hours, comprised of 4 hours self directed learning utilising a workbook (with an online test to be completed) and 3 hours of hands-on simulation with an Emcare instructor.
