CORE Immediate - Adult

CORE Immediate - Adult is for rescuers who might be expected to manage the early stages of cardiac arrest. CORE Immediate – Adult includes adult collapse management.

Description

CORE Immediate - Adult is the minimum standard for registered and non-registered dental professionals who are performing the 1st Assistant role, or the sedation team member who will monitor-only the sedated patient.

This course is also suitable for dentists that are delivering relative analgesia.

  • Automated External Defibrillator use
  • Airway Management
  • Scenarios - Adult Collapse and Medical Emergencies

There is no written assessment for CORE Immediate - Adult.

CORE Immediate learners should have access to Resuscitation – A Guide for Health Professionals at least one week before their face-to-face training. This manual contains the theory and knowledge directly applicable to the course and is available from the New Zealand Resuscitation Council.

CORE Immediate - Adult and Child is also available, which runs over 6 hours.

This course is intended as a 4 hour refresher covering the basics of Advanced Cardiac Life Support. The course curriculum assumes that you know and understand Basic Life Support and that you have professional training in a health care related profession such as medicine or nursing. It is specifically tailored to meet the needs of both community-based and hospital-based health professionals.

The CORE Advanced course is run over a full day. NZRC CORE Advanced will meet all requirements for medical personnel and is required for GP Fellowship. NZRC CORE Advanced is the current standard for Dentists performing oral or intravenous sedation (excluding Relative Analgesia).

This course is taught to the current New Zealand Standards for Health Professional Basic Life Support/CPR, and is suitable for authorised vaccinators, pharmacist vaccinators, nurses, radiographers, physiotherapists and other health professionals who do not require the more advanced courses available. Electronic pre-reading will be provided by Emcare.

The Dental Modular Certificate Course Level 4 (DMCC4) is a combination of pre-reading, skills development and practical assessment. Electronic pre-reading will be provided by Emcare. DMCC4 is the required level of training for: • Dentists/Dental Specialists - not performing sedation • Dental Therapists, Dental Hygienists, Orthodontic Auxiliaries, Clinical Dental Technicians • Dental Technicians undertaking restricted activities

This IV course will outline the procedure for inserting peripheral intravenous cannula (PIVC) and consider the various issues that are associated with it. The material presented on PIVC is focused on the adult population and phlebotomy will not be taught on this course. Total time investment for this course is 7 hours, comprised of 4 hours self directed learning utilising a workbook (with an online test to be completed) and 3 hours of hands-on simulation with an Emcare instructor.
